耆老活動 Senior Program
The
Senior Center was established in May 2005
to serve the Chinese/Asian seniors of Greater St. Louis. The activities are
free to seniors age 55 and above. New immigrants, elderly visitors, and
permanent senior residents made up the bulk of the participants.
The goal of the senior program is to
promote active living among the seniors through positive interactions with
peers and opportunities to learn new things.
老人康樂中心於年五月為大聖路易市的亞裔/華人耆老所增設。活動免費開放給55歲以上耆老 ,他們有來自各地的新進移民 ,探親觀光的,和當地定居的美籍華裔耆老等。
老人康樂中心的活動目標是為幫助耆老們拓寬社交生活圈子,豁達樂觀,心胸開放;才藝學習交流切磋;並助於身心靈的健康。
Unique Characteristics of the Senior Center:

provide a space
for Chinese seniors from over the world to meet and catch up with one
another using their mother tongues;
·
provide
opportunities for the seniors immigrants to learn English as a second
language so as to better assimilate into the American society;
·
through sharing
their skills and experiences, the seniors are in the position to contribute
to the society again;
·
promote
preventive health care through physical activities and seminars on
geriatric care;
·
bridge the east
and the west through celebrations of different cultural festivals.
老人康樂中心的特色有 :

讓耆老能在他們原來所熟悉的面孔語言文化中與其他耆老,能有機會在地球的另一邊他鄉遇故知,天南地北,話家常,備感親切。
·
提供各式的成人英語、電腦班 課程,實踐"活到老,學到老 "的精神,讓耆老能透過英文 學習,有機會在生活上更適應 美國的新環境。
·
透過耆老的才藝分享教授, 互相切磋,有機會成為義工, 服務人群,豐富自我的生命。
·
倡導"預防重於治療"的理念,透過安排各式不同的老人運動操,和各類的心理衛生健 康保健專題。
·
透過各式節慶活動,幫助耆老有機會認識美國文化,為中西文化搭起橋樑。
